About Lacey Haegen Business & Leadership Coach

I am an entrepreneur, mentor, and business executive coach who has spent my career devoted to developing businesses and helping leaders bring their visions to life while staying true to themselves.

My educational path through Sociology, gave me the opportunity to study the patterns of human behavior, systems, and society. That lens — how people and structures shape one another — has guided everything I’ve done since.

I also spent my formative years in the luxury retail and cosmetics industry, beginning at sixteen and working through graduate school, then climbing the ranks of major retailers and global brands. Those years gave me an inside view of corporate business at its best and at its most flawed — teaching me invaluable lessons about leadership, organizational efficiency, and how systems and people can either succeed or break down in practice.

As the founder and CEO of a successful company and brand that I created, developed, and sold, I know first hand the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship — the risks, the decisions, and the deep personal growth required along the way. That experience is why I’m passionate about helping other leaders build businesses that don’t just survive, but truly flourish.

My Lens: Patterns, Transformation & Leadership Growth

After years of mentoring and coaching entrepreneurs and founders, I realized I needed to be able to help people on a deeper level than strategies and spreadsheets.

With my brain always on the look out for patterns, I began to notice a destructive pattern common among leaders that was holding them back.

They could build strategies, implement systems, and make measurable progress — but inevitably they would hit an invisible wall. Self-sabotage crept in, old doubts resurfaced, and they slipped backwards, often with frustration, loss, and drama in the wake.

Defeated, the thought of starting again felt so insurmountable they would quasi-give up — circling in the same cycles without breaking through.

I couldn't put my finger on it, but I could always feel it: that sense that something keeps getting in the way.

That’s why I enrolled in NLP Marin and pursued a certification in Transformational NLP*: a powerful methodology for identifying and unpacking subconscious thought patterns that keep us stuck.

This work allows me to help leaders move past the invisible walls, step out of repeating cycles, and access their own inner clarity, confidence, and alignment so they can finally grow beyond who they have been before and into whoever they want to be.

*NLP is an acronym for Neurolinguistic Programming.

When you grow beyond old patterns, you don’t just build a stronger business — you become the human you’re meant to be.

Supporting Business & Leadership Growth with Transformational NLP:

Transformational NLP is a powerful way of working with the subconscious patterns that shape how we experience ourselves, others, and the world. It’s not about changing the past — it’s about changing how the past feels now, so you have more freedom, choice, and alignment in the present.

Before beginning work with new clients, I often explain what Transformational NLP can help address. In simple terms, it’s about shifting the subconscious patterns that keep us stuck — moving away from unwanted states or habits, and moving toward greater choice, resourcefulness, and freedom.

Some of the most common areas we work with include:

  • Unwanted feelings or reactions triggered by certain experiences
  • A sense that “something is in the way” of moving forward
  • Past events that didn’t go as wanted and still resurface or derail progress
  • Feeling like a child-like state hijacks a situation unexpectedly
  • Difficulty finding or sustaining motivation
  • Behaviors you no longer want to keep repeating
  • The inner conflict of “part of me wants X, part of me wants Y”
  • Adding extra resources or resilience to something already positive
  • Fear that holds you back
  • Building stronger confidence to move forward

Unlike the conventional, high-energy version of NLP that focuses on performance and quick state changes, Transformational NLP is different. It doesn’t push or hype you into temporary motivation. Instead, it gently works with the subconscious patterns — often formed in childhood — that quietly shape how you think, feel, and lead. By bringing compassion, curiosity, and adult perspective to old patterns, this approach creates shifts that last, opening the way for real clarity, confidence, and growth.

It’s important to note that NLP is only one tool in my toolbox. If NLP feels like the right approach, we’ll use it. If not, there are many other strategies and methods we can draw on. How and when we use NLP techniques is always considered on a case-by-case basis, in full collaboration with you. Every technique is always in service of helping you achieve what you would like — and in fact, we always begin with the simple question: “What would you like?”

Frequently Asked Questions About Transformational NLP

Transformational NLP is one of the tools I use to help leaders move past hidden blocks and grow in both business and leadership — here are answers to common questions.

How is Transformational NLP different from Conventional NLP?

Conventional NLP — often focuses on performance, persuasion, and high-energy “state change.” While that version can be motivating, it can sometimes feel surface-level or short-lived, manipulative, and be followed by identity crashes.

Transformational NLP, as taught through NLP Marin, goes much deeper. It’s not about hype or forcing quick fixes. Instead, it gently uncovers the subconscious patterns — often formed in childhood — that keep you stuck in repeating cycles. By bringing compassion, curiosity, and adult perspective to those old patterns, Transformational NLP creates lasting shifts in how you experience yourself, your choices, and your leadership.

How is Transformational NLP different from traditional coaching?

Transformational NLP is a methodology that helps uncover and shift subconscious patterns that can keep leaders stuck — and can be used as support of traditional coaching. Traditional coaching focuses mostly on setting up quantifiable strategies, whereas NLP works with how the mind has coded past experiences into how we understand the world and how those understandings may be helping, or hindering us now.

Do I have to do NLP if I work with you?

Not at all. NLP is one tool in my coaching toolbox, and we’ll only use it if it feels like the right fit for you. Coaching always begins with your goals, and NLP is simply one pathway toward them.

What kinds of challenges can NLP help with?

NLP is especially helpful when you feel like there’s something in the way that you can’t quite name or move past. It can help with unwanted reactions, fear, confidence, motivation, self-sabotage, and those repeating cycles where you feel like you’re back at square one. It’s also powerful for adding new resources to what’s already working well. It can help change unwanted habits and help you see things differently when desired.

What happens in an NLP session?

In a session, we’ll use guided questions and visualization techniques to revisit past experiences, explore present patterns, and imagine new possibilities. We’re not changing the past — we’re changing how it feels and what it means now, so you can move forward with more choice and less friction.

Can I book an NLP session without ongoing coaching?

Yes. If you’d like to work through business or personal blocks without committing to ongoing coaching, I offer single-session Transformational NLP appointments. Book your session HERE.
